Tech New Bits – Latest from the Rumor Mill Has Facebook Buying Waze for up to 1 $Billion

May 9, 2013 By Editor

Here we go again with some more facebook stories… this time the web is buzzing with reports and speculation that facebook is in talks to buy Waze, the cool ,crowd sourcing mobile navigation service. Waze is awesome and the news is cool, and perhaps it does make some sense, after all, Waze is all about the community, sharing, mobile, basically everything that facebook wants to do but is really struggling with! Like many of you , you may be a huge fan of Waze, I know I am. But I also have some fears in wondering just how fb will integrate this service and how they may also mess it up! Lets just hope things work out well for the Wazers and this fine service.

This from Forbes…

Facebook may be gearing up to buy its way further into the mobile and location-based space by purchasing Waze, the popular social traffic and navigation app based in Israel. The two companies are said to be discussing a deal worth between $800 million and $1 billion, according to multiple reports in the Israeli press. Israeli newspaper CAlcAlist reports that both companies have signed a term sheet, and that Facebook is doing due diligence. UPDATE: A source close to the parties concerned tells me the companies are indeed discussing a deal, and that the offer is close to between $800 million and $1 billion.

Waze and Facebook spokespeople aren’t commenting, and Waze CEO Noam Bardin could not be reached for comment
