InService and G/Technology integration to reduce costs, boost efficiencies

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., April 18, 2013 – Horizon Utilities, one of the largest municipally-owned electricity distribution companies in Ontario, Canada, has chosen to implement Intergraph’s InService and G/Technology suite of products. By taking advantage of Intergraph’s complementary solutions, Horizon Utilities will be better positioned to respond to outages, maintain service levels, and manage its workforce.

"In searching for a replacement for our legacy system, we were impressed with Intergraph’s integration of GIS in the InService and G/Technology products," said Jim Butler, director, engineering & operations improvement, Horizon Utilities. "The integration of InService and G/Technology within our service management system will position us to better handle trouble analysis and a mobile workforce and to better serve our customers."

Intergraph’s InService solution is flexible enough to manage a broad range of job types. With its configurable system, InService redefines field service with a single application environment for operators to geospatially handle outage management, trouble analysis, and switching operations. It also supports mobile workforce management features, such as dispatch and mobile computing solutions for a wide variety of work, eliminating the need for multiple systems and access points.

Providing both engineering and operational support functions combined with decision support functions, G/Technology provides an environment that reduces the cost of designing, operating and maintaining the assets that deliver utility and communications services to customers.

"Fully integrated IT systems for utilities can reduce costs by facilitating easy information exchange and access to critical data in the field," said Rob Patten, vice president Canada, Intergraph SG&I. "Increased mobile and web-focused enhancements will support Horizon Utilities’ move to more efficient workflows, enabling quick responses to customer demands."
