Wayne County, NC Deploys GeoBlade Crimes and MapNimbus for use with OSSI

April 19, 2013 By Editor

GOLDSBORO, N.C. – Geographic Technologies Group (GTG)

Crime analysis has come a long way over the years and Wayne County, NC is at the forefront of crime analysis intelligence.  Wayne County is currently leveraging GIS and OSSI’s Records Management Systems integration with GTG’s GeoBlade Crimes and Mapnimbus applications.  Each application play a significant role in spatially enabling incident locations to detect patterns of data, crime trends, hotspot locations and much more.

GeoBlade Crimes is currently used by the Sheriff’s office for internal consumption of GIS data and a wealth of OSSI Crimes data.  GeoBlade Crimes gives entire Sheriff’s department the ability to visualize incidents as they occurred in a robust GIS user interface.  GeoBlade Crimes is leveraged by the crime analysts and shift commanders to identify crime trends, hot spots, and Part I crimes.  Prior to spatially enabling their record management system database, Wayne County had no way of geographically representing the locations of their crimes.

MapNimbus allows the County to display selected crime information and locations on the World Wide Web for public consumption.  Reporting, dashboard views, pin mapping, email notifications, aerial photography and sharing of data across jurisdictional boundaries are just some of the functionality that MapNimbus provides.  By putting GIS and crimes integration in the hands of the public, Wayne County has seen a significant decrease in crime trends.

GTG is the winner of the 2011 Esri International Mobile GIS Application Award and the 2012 Esri Special Achievement in GIS Award.
