Dewberry to Support State of Hawaii in Development of Cloud Infrastructure for Website Hosting

March 7, 2013 By Editor

Fairfax, Virginia—March 6, 2013

Dewberry, a leading professional services firm, has been selected by the State of Hawaii to assist in the transition of public websites into the public cloud. As an authorized Amazon Web Services (AWS) Partner, Dewberry offers the full suite of AWS products along with expertise in architecture and migration strategies.

The services will be provided through the Western States Contracting Alliance (WSCA) contract that Dewberry was awarded in 2012.

As part of Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie’s Business and Information Technology/Information Resource Management (IT/IRM) Transformation Plan, developed under the leadership of State Chief Information Officer Sanjeev "Sonny" Bhagowalia to implement significant technological upgrades throughout the 50th state, Dewberry will plan, design, and implement cloud infrastructure to support the hosting of 25 public websites. The main components of the system will include:

§  Testing and production of AWS EC2 cloud instances to store and serve all existing web pages, scripts, and other non-database-related content;

§  Testing and production of AWS MySQL Relational Database Service to host all of the supporting databases; and

§  Replicated failover systems for quick disaster recovery.

Dewberry will assist with determining service-level requirements and specifications, deployment of cloud infrastructure, migration of existing applications and databases to the cloud, and system support and maintenance.
