City of Vancouver Opens up Rental property Data and Google map of results

February 7, 2013 By Editor

This via the Vancouver Sun…

On Wednesday the city published online a searchable database of all rental buildings with five or more units that have run into trouble with city inspectors…The database covers single-room occupancy hotels, private rental housing and social and supportive housing that have run into trouble with city inspectors. It doesn’t include private rentals in condominium buildings, suites in private homes or buildings with less than five units.

The database can be searched by address, open violations, and even on a Google map by neighbourhood.

Vancouver turned to New York for how to put the program in place.
