Trimble Introduces New Laser Distance Measuring Tools for Construction

November 12, 2012 By Editor

ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 5, 2012—Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) introduced the Spectra Precision® QM55 and QM95 Quick Measure distance meters. These handheld laser distance meters can be used in a wide variety of applications and are designed to give contractors a one-person distance measuring tool that is easy-to-use, can be carried in a pocket and withstands the rigors of the construction jobsite. The QM55 and QM95 join the existing portfolio of Quick Measure distance measurement tools.

The announcement was made at the STAFDA (Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association) Annual Convention and Trade Show.

The Spectra Precision QM55 Quick Measure includes a complete set of functions for construction including area, volume, continuous measure, indirect (Pythagorean) measure and stake out. Measurements can also be quickly added and subtracted. Multiple units of measure are selectable and include metric, feet, or inches. The QM55 is designed for indoor use with a range of 50 meters (165 feet) and an accuracy of ±1.5 mm (±1/16 inch).

The Spectra Precision QM95 Quick Measure provides the versatility of indoor and outdoor use. An extra-large LCD screen displays measurement information and has an illuminated display for easy reading in low light and bright light conditions. The QM95 has the longest range of the QM portfolio of products with a measurement distance up to 200 meters (650 feet). It is also a very precise distance meter with accuracy of ±1.0 mm (±1/24 inch).

The Quick Measure housings are specifically designed with special engineered plastics, rubber overmold and electronics isolation for drop protection—up to 1.5 meters (5 feet)—to withstand the typical abuse found on commercial and residential jobsites. The compact size of the Quick Measures makes them easy to store and transport in a pocket.

The QM55 Quick Measure is available now through the Spectra Precision Dealer Network. The QM95 Quick Measure is expected to be available November.
