Hart Energy Continues to Lead in Pipeline GIS Data

October 14, 2012 By Editor

Company’s North American database tops million-mile mark

HOUSTON, Oct. 9, 2012 – The GIS pipeline database maintained by Hart Energy’s Data and Mapping Services unit (formerly known as Rextag Strategies) surpassed the million-mile mark during the third quarter of 2012. Since 2007, the GIS data team has digitized a total of 1,002,603 pipeline miles in North America, with more than 900,000 miles in the U.S. alone. These figures are expected to continue to grow every quarter, and Hart Energy advises individuals to ensure numbers are calculated using North American Equidistant projection to ensure accurate and un-manipulated mileages.

"This assessment reaffirms us as a market leader in energy GIS data," said Rey Tagle, vice president of Hart Energy (and founder of Rextag Strategies). "Hart Energy continues to make the most significant investments in GIS data research and development to ensure our products are relevant and remain the most accurate and comprehensive for our energy-industry customers."

Hart Energy Data and Mapping Services aggregates, publishes, and distributes GIS mapping data for the energy industry and owns the largest and most comprehensive mapping database of energy infrastructure assets for North America. This data is licensed to clients for use in their own internal research and mapping needs.

"Our customers receive the most complete data with the most detail," Tagle said. "Over 50 percent of our pipelines are digitized to accuracies within 50 feet or less. We offer the largest volume of digitized pipelines in the industry."

For 30-plus years, Hart Energy has been a leader covering energy news and technology for investors and executives. The Houston-based company produces magazines (Oil and Gas Investor, E&P, Midstream Business, and FUEL), online information services (A-Dcenter.com, OilandGasInvestor.com, and UGcenter.com), and industry newsletters, and provides upstream energy research and downstream consulting services. Hart Energy boasts exceptional strength in unconventional resources, e.g., its Developing Unconventionals (DUG™) conference series, its Global Shale Gas and Global Shale Oil studies, and more.
