Opportunity – Get Some Open Data and Build a Mobile App! The Gone Fishing Example

September 6, 2012 By Editor

I’m loving this one from the Timmons Group as the company has announced details of a mobile app (iOS and Android) that they’ve developed for the Missouri Dept of Conservation. This is exactly the kind of opportunity that any developer can embrace and look at for a business opportunity! I’d have to think that just about every State and Province has massive amounts of data, imagery, and related information available to enable anyone to create a cool mobile hunting, fishing, birding, camping or similar mobile app. Sure you can hang out on business opportunity pages and wait for an RFP to show up soliciting requests from consultants to build an app for them or you can start digging up data and records for yourself and go and build one!

About the app… Using the Find MO Fish application, a user can view a map of Missouri populated with the locations of the major lakes, rivers and streams. Users can also use the application and generate fast and accurate driving directions to boat ramps across the State of Missouri.    See more details HERE

With increased demand for more civic engagement and more mobile from Government this is the perfect opportunity! Think about it…
