King County Washington, who have recently boasted some tremendous $$ ROI figures, has recently released 2009 aerial photography availability in their online iMAP system. According to the County GIS Department, set of aerial images was captured from April through October of 2009 by Pictometry . Image resolution for western King and southwestern Snohomish counties, the Snoqualmie Pass area, and most of the US Highway 2 corridor in northeast King County is six inches per pixel. Images for the remainder of King County have one-foot-per-pixel resolution. Note: A Puget Sound area coalition of King County, cities, the USGS, and utility and service districts is planning to acquire high-resolution orthoimagery and ancillary products in 2012. Interesting to see that the County’s impressive virtual map center is providing the public with awesome public transit and related maps, many also now provided as GeospatialPDF which are supported by the Avenza Systems PDF Maps app on iPad (See @pdfmaps)
