Call for Participation – Workshop on Defining, Measuring, and Communicating the Socioeconomic Benefits of Geospatial information/GEOSS 2012

Boulder Colorado, USA
June 12-14 2012

The Workshop invites presentations covering the practice, development and research experiences on quantitative socioeconomic assessments. This includes methodologies and metrics for assessing and communicating the value of geospatial information.

This international workshop invites presentations and papers from government, industry, NGOs and academia in the following topics:

? Cross-disciplinary methodologies for socioeconomic benefit assessments
? Qualitative and quantitative metrics for benefits and impacts
? Case studies from industry, government, and academia;
? Benefits and Impacts of geospatial information for decision making
? Communicating benefit assessments

Geospatial information is playing and increasing role in decision-making and more efficient and effective use of this information is essential. This workshop will explore a range of options for assessing societal benefits that geospatial information brings to decision-making. Through the use of case studies, we will focus on understanding and analyzing the requirements that lead to success.

This event is the next step in building a multi-disciplinary community of practice to further support the use of spatial information in decision-making. The workshop will provide opportunities to network with both developers and users of spatial information to encourage long-term mutual support.

Deadline for submission is March 9, 2012. Notification of acceptance will be on April 13, 2012.
