An opportunity for Geo developers to use San Diego GIS data products to create software and apps and win!
Here’s an awesome opportunity for you SoCal developers as the City of San Diego (@cityofsandiego) along with sponsor AT&T are challenge developers to come up with innovative, compelling apps that take advantage of city (and partner) data to deliver software solutions that enhance the lives and quality of life of the people of San Diego. Tipped off via our fiends Tim Craig (via Esri in San Diego) this is an awesome opportunity for you GeoGeeks and Geo hackers as I know as well as you do that it’s the GeoGeeks who have the smarts and low-down on all the great data… after all, the data is what makes the killer app!
A note to developers, Your application must use at least one dataset from the City of San Diego or a participating partner.
Some details on the Challenge… Winners will receive $50,000 in cash prizes as well as promotional exposure. Prizes will be awarded for apps that enhance city services and quality of life for San Diegans, and that use the data in innovative ways. Submitted apps can run on the web, desktop computers, tablets, or smartphones. The public is encouraged to share application ideas related to energy, tourism, economic development, transportation, the environment, health and other areas.
So get buys, you have until April 11, 2012 to get your submission in – See complete details at http://sdappschallenge.com/
