NAVTEQ Map Coverage for North America and Europe Now Available on Esri ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Data Appliance – Users now have access to NAVTEQ basemaps including North America and Europe, Oceania and South America

CHICAGO, Dec. 21, 2011 — NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of maps, traffic and location data enabling navigation, location-based services and mobile advertising around the world, announces that North America and Europe coverage is now available on Esri ArcGIS Online and Data Appliance. Last summer, Esri launched NAVTEQ Map coverage for Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Chile and Argentina on ArcGIS Online.

"Esri and NAVTEQ have reached another milestone with the inclusion of North America and Europe coverage of ready-to-use basemaps in ArcGIS Online and Data Appliance," said Christophe Charpentier, Esri. "Esri selected NAVTEQ as their street data provider because we recognize our users’ need for rich, detailed, and accurate map data, as well as Esri’s commitment to meet the needs of states, counties, local governments, and commercial organizations of all sizes."

ArcGIS Online provides a common platform to find, share, and organize geographic content to build geographic information system (GIS) applications. Through ArcGIS Online users can access ready-to-use global basemaps and task services such as geocoding and routing to build their own maps and apps, and easily share them with a broad community of users.

ArcGIS Data Appliance is a unique combination of hardware and data that provides the security and performance that users need. The enterprise scalable server plugs into an organization’s internal network and serves terabytes of worldwide reference map data.

"NAVTEQ and Esri share the vision to provide the GIS community with an authoritative map designed for efficient global implementation," said Roy Kolstad, vice president, Enterprise Americas, NAVTEQ. "NAVTEQ is committed to providing Esri with robust, accurate data as well as strategically collaborating together on global research and development, sales, and marketing activities."
