Small Town Public Works Department Sees Big Results with GIS-Centric Solution

Sandy, UT– The use of Cityworks, the leading GIS-centric management solution, has enhanced asset management and maintenance workflow for the Public Works and Facilities department at the City of D’Iberville, Mississippi.  The department expresses great satisfaction with the capabilities of the software and results of utilizing the system.

The Public Works and Facilities department at D’Iberville is made up of three separate divisions: Parks and Recreation, Public Works, and Water and Sewer.  Each of these divisions utilizes Cityworks with measurable results.  The department currently has nine staff using Cityworks daily to create and manage work orders. Receiving approximately 80 work orders per month, or 960 per year, the Public Works and Facilities department is a good representation of a smaller municipality with a large amount of work to manage. Cityworks has proven to be the right tool for them to keep on top of their work and complete it in a timely manner.

“Cityworks is a great tool and we use it daily,” stated Mike Mullins, Director of Public Works and Facilities, City of D’Iberville.  “It is easy-to-use, very functional, and easy to understand.  It allows us to keep track of work that is and is not being completed throughout the City, allowing our supervisors to easily track and view progress.  The “paper trail” the program keeps timely record of open or completed projects, enabling supervisors to stay up-to-date on matters.”

Not only has Cityworks provided a means by which to improve workflow and task completion, it also enhanced data collection, query and reporting capabilities.

Mullins Continues, “While we input data for our work management records and general information purposes, Cityworks also allows us to input other valuable information, such as labor hours and equipment used. So, if we need to print a work order for another purpose, such as billing, we can easily provide all the necessary information in one print out.”

“Enhanced workflow and asset management are the core of Cityworks,” stated Brian Haslam, President of Cityworks.  “These outcomes are literally trigger the domino effect, resulting in further benefits, such as improved performance, reporting, time and cost savings, and so on. All public organizations, especially small municipalities like D’Iberville, need a solution that can help them maximize their resources – time and money. Cityworks is the product that can do just that.”
