An Update For Geodata.gov/GOS Publishers About Data.gov

September 30, 2011 By Editor

An important update/reminder to those agencies that publish data via GOS… recall data will be migrating to geo.data.gov

Via GSA…

On September 30th, Geo.Data.gov will go live within Data.gov. This evolution of the former Geospatial One Stop/geodata.gov project will continue to build upon capabilities to enhance the discovery and use of governmental geospatial data. From September 30th onward, Geo.Data.gov will be the place to manage your existing geodata.gov content and harvests. Almost everything in will look very similar to what you were used to in geodata.gov.

Things to Expect For
Geo.Data.gov
— All of your Geodata.gov content has been moved over. That said, not all content will be available initially through the
geo.data.gov filtered search, which will only show Agency approved Federal records.
— All of your Geodata.gov harvest configurations have been moved over.
— Your Geodata.gov user account has been moved over.
— You will need to "reconnect" your Geodata.gov account by resetting your password in
Geo.Data.gov (instructions below).
— Over the next two weeks, the
data.gov team will contact you to assist with turning back on your harvests, which will remain off on September 30th.
— The ability to search non-federal records will be made available in the near future.

For Account Holders:
Steps to "Reconnect" Your Account
1. After September 30th, go to Geo.Data.gov
2. Click on "Login" in the top right hand corner
3. Click on "Forgot Password" next to the Login button
4. Enter your geodata.gov username and your email address
5. You will receive an email to reset your password
