POWER Engineers awarded Cityworks Asset Management Services contract by Grand Rapids, MI

August 2, 2011 By Editor

BOISE, Idaho (August 2, 2011) — POWER Engineers (POWER) is working with the City of Grand Rapids to expand and enhance the use of its Cityworks Asset Management System. The City of Grand Rapids has used Cityworks for enterprise-wide asset management and work order processing since 2004. The City currently operates Cityworks Server and has deployed integrated customer service request online tools, CRM, and mobile solutions.

Working with the City’s Department of Information Technology and Change Management, as well as individual departments, the initial work will focus on a high-level assessment of the City’s current deployment, end-user functionality, and the implementation of StoreRoom for inventory management. POWER will deliver a Strategic Roadmap document that will be used as a guide during the engagement. Subsequently, POWER will work directly with the individual departments to assist in refining the current configurations as well as expanding the use of Cityworks throughout the enterprise.  Grand Rapids currently uses Cityworks in the Water, Environmental and Public Services Departments in support of water and wastewater, sanitation, transportation, and lighting and sign operational workflows.

Peter Godfrey, Senior Consultant for POWER’s GIS and Asset Management Solutions Business Unit stated, “Since their first implementation of ArcGIS® and Cityworks, the City of Grand Rapids has been an excellent example of how GIS technology can be used within local government. We are pleased to be selected as their implementation partner as they continue to embrace GIS and asset management technology and support their innovative techniques and application of the technology.”

Throughout the engagement, additional services may include:

  • Workflow modeling
  • Requirements gathering
  • GIS implementation support
  • Configuration and testing
  • Deployment support
  • Cityworks training
  • Inventory and reporting functions

As a long-time user of Cityworks, this engagement will provide the opportunity for Grand Rapids to fully leverage its investments to date and to generate an executable plan forward for enterprise implementation and asset management best practices. “Having worked with POWER for years, we expect a successful partnership in continuing our Cityworks use," stated Paul Klimas, Director of Information Technology for the City of Grand Rapids. The City envisions an increased and standardized use of Cityworks for both performance measurement and decision support for capital and operational planning.
