BuzzMob Launches New Location-Based, Mobile Social Networking Platform – Social Media for Real Life

August 23, 2011 By Editor

BuzzMob is changing what it means to interact with the everyday world, integrating social media with live, localized experiences

IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — BuzzMob, a location-based mobile platform that brings social media communication to real-world places and events, announced today the launch and availability of its smartphone application.  Now on the iTunes Store, BuzzMob connects users within the same physical vicinity to talk, share tips, photos, rich media and receive exclusive content from within a GPS-defined digital network.

"BuzzMob is about revolutionizing the way we think about and use social media," said Jeff Jackel, founder & CEO of BuzzMob. "In the past, it was always hard using social media to share real-world experiences with people who aren’t there with you in the moment. Social networks have traditionally focused on documenting and broadcasting your experiences. At BuzzMob, we’re focused on enhancing them. So we’re bringing the social media experience to you based on your location and activity.  We’re making social media more social, in a network that moves with you and is always connected to where you are and what you’re doing, right now."

"BuzzMobbers" can connect with the people around them experiencing the same social activity.  At concerts, sporting events, college campuses, shopping centers and more, BuzzMobbers can join or create the Buzz in a GPS-enabled "Ring," where those on site can share messages, tips reviews, photos and other content in a contained community.

BuzzMob features include:

  • Joining a Ring to connect BuzzMobbers with the real people around them, from just a few users, to many thousands
  • BuzzMobbers can create Rings around wherever they are to start a Buzz, from the 50-foot radius around a restaurant to several miles of a metropolitan area
  • The Buzz: a live feed of all conversations and content occurring now, or most recent conversations and content at a specific location
  • BuzzPoints: a map of geo-tagged tips and reviews posted by BuzzMobbers to help each other get the most from their experience at the Ring location
  • Photos: See or share the view from different vantages inside the Ring, from the front row to the nosebleeds
  • Messages: the option to reply directly to any BuzzMobber on the feed, or email them from your personal email address, without leaving the application
  • Search: For Rings nearby or far away, key words, specific BuzzMobbers and or hot topics
  • View: Choose eligible rings to join from a GPS map view or a list view
  • Observe: From outside the Ring, BuzzMobbers can still observe (though not participate) in all the Ring activity
  • Stay connected not just to other BuzzMobbers, but to exclusive information, content, and offers provided by the location itself.
