The annual Esri UC is a pretty darned social event. To help make it an even more social experience, there’s a number of resources that will really help you.
To begin, the official ESRIUC facebook page is a great place to look for news from esri and to share some relevant information – See https://www.facebook.com/esriuc
LinkedIn
Connect with other attendees in this non-esri run group on LinkedIn – See this un-official EsriUC LinkedIn Group
EsriUC Geo Lounge
The lounge onsite in the upper area of the SDCC – near the Map Gallery is a great way to kick back, watch some social media streams on the screen, update your blog, or check your twitter page. See a photo here
San Diego Map
Here’s an excellent San Diego map with plenty of tips on ArcGIS.com put together by an Esri insider – some fine tips and places to check out while in San Diego…
Twitter
@Esri has a number of official Twitter accounts including @EsriUC
Be sure to also follow search.twitter.com on the hashtag #esriuc and be sure to tag updates from the event with the hashtag.
Share your photos
Many conference goers will bu snapping and uploading photos from San Diego. Be sure to tag your photos “esriuc” (http://www.gisuser.com/content/view/20866/230/) and consider sharing via Twitter (TwitPic) and on Flickr. A tip, using a service like Ping.fm or pixelpipe you can easily snap and upload your photos to numerous services with one click! Take note of the official ESRIUC Flickr group http://www.flickr.com/groups/1728540@N23/
Attend A TweetUp
We’ve planned our 3rd annual Sunday night TweetUp once again. the event will be at Dick’s Last resort. Don’t look for loads of structure and organization, rather, this is an informal, casual tweetup. Meet other GeoGeeks discuss the week ahead, chat about social media strategies, and enjoy a beer or two. Thanks again to teh generous sponsor of the TweetUp, Merrick & Company! See details HERE or on facebook
Check-In
Foursquare was very popular and once again its a great resource to use to checkin and even locate other geogeeks that are at the same venue. Search for special foursquare venues during the week like the Conference itself, Map Gallery, the Showcase or the Sunday Night TweetUp. No doubt there might be some competition for the mayorships.

BackChannel
Once again, the DTSgis team have put together a sweet EsriUC backchannel. Pack your smartphone and prepare to have some fun this year! Here’s the low-down… the smartphone app is designed to bring EsriUC conference goers a little closer together and to have loads of fun. Use the app to access schedules (you have to do some work while there!), watch the social streams, chat in the background, and play the fun photo safari game, snapping photos of Esri “celebrities” then sharing via instagram and facebook (new this year) See Details HERE
Video
Are you shooting video while at the conference or maybe looking for live video interviews? Remember to use YouTube and/or ustream and search for the popular hashtag “esriuc”. Videographers be sure to tag your videos with “esriuc” – see this sample video I captured last year showing off ArcGIS on iOS
Blogs
Are you a blogger? If so be sure to pen a blog post or two from the event and be sure to share your posts on Twitter so others can find you. Be sure to also see the official EsriUC blog and see also our own AnyGeo / GISuser blog for esriuc specific news and posts. http://blog.gisuser.com/?cat=65
