Harris Corporation Expands Geospatial Services Production Facility in St. Louis, Missouri

April 7, 2011 By Editor

MELBOURNE, Fla. and ST. LOUIS, April 6, 2011  –Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has unveiled its expanded St. Louis facility, which supports programs for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and other federal agencies in the area. Representatives from the NGA and Harris today toured the newly expanded facility and participated in technology demonstrations.

The office, located in the historic Blanke Building at 1310 Papin Street, now has double the space previously available for production of high-resolution, imagery-derived geospatial data. Harris provides imagery processing, feature data extraction, mapping and charting, and production management for the NGA’s Global Geospatial-Intelligence (GGI) program. These intelligence products are provided by the NGA to policy makers, military decision makers and warfighters. The products also can be tailored to support civilian federal agencies and select international organizations.

The Harris facility in St. Louis provides independent quality assurance services of geospatial data created by Harris in its Melbourne, Florida production centers. The expanded space will provide additional capacity for geospatial production, data maintenance and "product on demand."

"This expansion will support additional capabilities in production and quality assurance," said Sheldon Fox, group president, Harris Government Communications Systems. "The proximity of this office to the facilities of the NGA and other federal agencies here in St. Louis facilitates collaborative relationships with our customers. We greatly appreciate the support we have received from the local business community since we first opened the office in 2009."
