Cityworks Helps the City of Loveland, Colorado, Measure Cost Savings

January 5, 2011 By Editor

Enterprise Deployment Deemed an ‘Invaluable Asset’

Sandy, UT — Asset management at the City of Loveland Solid Waste Division has been greatly improved through implementing  Cityworks by Azteca Systems, Inc., the leading provider of GIS-centric management solutions.  Because of the many benefits they are experiencing, Loveland plans to continue expanding the system throughout the organization in the future.

Before implementing Cityworks, most divisions used a paper system for asset and work management which was error-prone, tedious, and inefficient.  To resolve these issues, Loveland chose Cityworks as their Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for its user-friendly capabilities and its ability to grow with their needs.  Having used Cityworks for over a year now, the Solid Waste Division is realizing many positive results.  Office reliability has increased by using a dependable electronic system to record calls and track the information which is easily retrieved and viewed on-screen.  Productivity levels have increased and residents are pleased with the prompt response times.

Cityworks has enabled the division to take a proactive role rather than reactive.  Crews are dispatched more rapidly and supervisors are instantly aware of problems.  The division has eliminated the need to hire outside labor due to increased staff productivity and charges for services are applied in a timely manner, both resulting in significant cost savings.  Office staff are able to address concerns over the phone rather than send crews and equipment back into the field—another cost-saving measure.  Numerous reports are created from the data in Cityworks and the City has discovered ways to use the information to improve staffing, training, and education; accurately assess upcoming needs; and identify routes or special-needs locations that may require extra attention.

“Cityworks works so well for us that it has already become an invaluable asset to our organization, specifically to the Solid Waste Division,” explains Shannon Smith, Senior GIS Specialist at the City of Loveland.  “The increase in overall efficiency and cost savings are tremendous.  We have made enormous strides and experienced a great return on investment, and look forward to seeing how the software will further benefit the City in the future.”

“Loveland’s story is a great example of how our clients find that once they implement Cityworks, they begin realizing results almost immediately,” states Brian Haslam, President of Azteca Systems.  “Time and time again, it is always interesting how valuable Cityworks becomes to our users and in such a short amount of time.  Cityworks’ user-friendly interface along with its powerful management and GIS capabilities makes it a superior system that greatly improves efficiencies, in turn providing cost-saving measures like those reported by Loveland.”
