Breakthrough mobile navigation a big success: over 175,000 downloads to date

Rotterdam, 16 December 2010 – AND Automotive Navigation Data introduces together with the British Navmii three new countries for turn-by-turn navigation on the iPhone and iPad. After the successful launch of Navmii GPS Live for the Netherlands, France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Italy and Sweden the application is now also available for Austria, Norway and Portugal through iTunes.

Six months after launching the application in iTunes Navmii GPS Live can be declared a big success. The mobile application has already been downloaded more than 175,000 times. The successful navigation app reached the number 1 position for paid navigation apps in almost all countries.

AND introduced the navigation for the iPhone with the British Navmii for the breakthrough price of € 3.99 per country and € 5.49 for the iPad. The application is available under the Navmii GPS brand. Turn-by-turn navigation is now available in most Western European countries.

AND-Chief Executive Officer Maarten Oldenhof: ‘I am very happy with the success of our collaboration with Navmii. Over 175,000 people in Europe are using our turn-by-turn navigation and with the introduction in three new countries this amount is expected to rise fast. AND has always envisioned a strong growth and the importance of smartphones in people’s life and the Navmii success proves that AND plays an active role in this development.’
