Tip – Don’t Stop With the Map or WebMap – Repurpose Your Success Stories

October 13, 2010 By Editor

Now that you’ve completed that long, painful mapping project and have some amazing output (print or webmap) why not announce and share your hard work with contacts, clients, and potential customers?

Repurposing your work is a highly under-used resource that I feel many professionals are missing out on. There’s a number of simple things you can do that can easily enable you to promote your company, enhance your own personal brand/image, show some luv to a loyal customer, add some interesting content to your marketing material and web resources. A few things you can do once the project is completed: write up a project summary, maybe put it in a power point and then share it on your corporate blog using Slideshare; create some nice images from the maps and data you’ve created, maybe share via a T-shirt from cafepress, create some cool post cards using Moo, or at the very least, publish a project summary map photo gallery on flickr (BighugeLabs has some great Flickr add on tools) , or even better, create a fun video from the images using a service like Shwup or Nokia’s theMoment.

Finally, make sure you share and update details of the project and project completion on your corporate Twitter, an industry LinkedIn group or facebook page. Oh, and make sure you update your own LinkedIn profile with details of the project and the role that you played. If you feel really energetic, pen a one or 2 page project summary story and backgrounder and submit it to yours truly so we can publish it in an article or blog posting – your clients or boss will love you!
