OpenAddresses.org BETA for localized postal addresses

March 30, 2010 By Editor

A new resource is now online and rolling out at openaddresses.org – simply put, the resource boasts “OpenAddresses is a web portal for the management of Open Source worldwide localized postal addresses.”

So far the web service has a pretty slick UI using the OpenStreetMap base and some limited functionality with promises of more to come soon. http://openaddresses.org/ – To support the effort the resource also has a Google Group as well as a project Wiki hosted on Google Code

We’ve already heard of some local governments (via Twitter) that are considering uploading address databases to the effort… imagine using such a service as a gateway to data entry efforts like the 2010 Census!
