GIS Technology and Water Resource Experts to Convene in Orlando, Florida

March 19, 2010 By Editor

Orlando, FL – Water resource and GIS technology experts will convene at the American Water Resources Association Spring Specialty Conference, March 29-31, 2010, at the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel. Conference attendees will have opportunities to network and explore emerging geospatial technologies regarding water resources.

A panel of leading professionals and researchers—moderated by Jack Hampson, senior group manager of PBS&J’s Water Resources Technology Group—will address strategic technologies for water resources in the future. This special plenary session will tie into the keynote address by Jack Dangermond, President of the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI).

And plan to attend these sessions:
• Session 9—Learn about the benefits of ongoing stormwater master planning using Arc Hydro.
• Session 14—Hear how using storm-event samples to calibrate the watershed loading model helped develop Seminole County’s Lake Jesup Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL).
• Session 23—Discover how PBS&J’s free ArcGIS extension, Flood Map Desktop™, can help GIS users and project managers maintain control over their FEMA mapping projects.
• Session 26—Learn how a decision support system under development for the Department of Energy facilitates water resources management in support of oil and gas exploration on Alaska’s North Slope.
• Session 34—Find out how GIS-based tools developed by PBS&J’s Water Resources Technology Group help end-users integrate water data with GIS, charting and visualizing inputs and results. Some example tools will be used for demonstration.
