50+ Speakers Confirmed for Navigation and Location Summit, June 15-16, Berlin

March 9, 2010 By Editor

BMW, Renault, TomTom, Garmin and T-Mobile To Debate Monetisation Strategies at Europe’s Biggest Navigation Conference…

On June 15th – 16th in Berlin TheWhereBusiness will be holding Europe’s biggest navigation conference, The Navigation and Location Summit Europe. This year’s event promises to be better than ever with over 50 speakers, three targeted tracks and an array of new workshops and sessions.

The theme of this year’s conference centres on re-evaluating business models and seeking alternative revenue streams. In response to commoditisation, navigation players are differentiating themselves through monetising innovative technologies such as connected services, real-time traffic, eco-routing, augmented reality and live POIs.

The Navigation and Location Summit Europe unites the entire eco-system – from map providers and content providers to navigation software providers, device makers and mobile operators – all under one roof – sharing the common goal of understanding how best to position their business to capitalise on Europe’s dramatically shifting landscape.

With more senior speakers than ever before, delegates will benefit from listening to BMW, Deutsche Telekom, Frost & Sullivan, ESRI, Bouygues Telecom, Open Street Map, NDrive, Tele Atlas, Intel, Renault, Carmeq, TomTom, ALK, T-Mobile, Garmin, Vodafone and many more.

Together, they will debate the relative merits of ad-funded or subscription models. Share their views on services that customers will willingly pay for. Take a close look at marketing strategies for PNDs and discuss areas yet to be monetised, such as augmented reality, location-based social networking and pedestrian navigation.

Agenda highlights include:

Michael Minich from Frost & Sullivan will open the conference with trends and forecasts for next-generation connected services
Get an OEM perspective on innovation and integration in navigation from Robert Hein, Head of Future Navigation and Data Services for BMW
Christof Hellmis, VP Product, Location for Nokia will be revealing how to monetise free mobile navigation
Hear a case-study from Bouygues Telecom on their recent augmented reality application
Business Development Manager of Car Infotainment for Intel will discuss which high-performance technologies are genuine money spinners from 3D navigation to connected services
Group Privacy Officer & Head of Legal for Vodafone will examine the profit potential of social location with a focus on privacy

New for this year, the Summit includes four interactive workshops and three targeted tracks on Navigation, Mobile Navigation and Content & Community. Delegates will be able to select from over 30 keynote presentations and in-depth panel discussions to create a unique conference experience.
