The Board of Directors of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) is pleased to transmit the completed draft of the United States Thoroughfare, Landmark, and Postal Address Data Standard to the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) for review and comment. Details… This draft brings to initial completion five years of work by the URISA Address Standard Working Group (ASWG). In 2005, the URISA Board of Directors created the ASWG to assist the FGDC, under the auspices of its Subcommittee on Cultural and Demographic Data, and with interested parties from local, state, Federal, and non-government sectors to resolve address data modeling and geoprocessing issues, creating a comprehensive address data standard. The URISA Board fully supports the objectives and benefits described in the standard and is confident the standard will help the national spatial data infrastructure become truly national.
