Keynote Speakers Thrust GEO-Energy Summit into National Spotlight

GEO-Energy Summit & Educational Forum 2014 – Davidson Center for Space Exploration Auditorium, Huntsville, Alabama, November 12-13, 2014

The GEO-Energy Summit 2014 event will host corporations and government agencies demonstrating emerging technologies that sustain our future energy needs, work toward interoperable and effective technology integration, and provide the backbone for economic security.

The keynote speaker of the GEO-Energy Summit will be Robert Cardillo, newly appointed director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). Prior to his appointment at the NGA, he was the first deputy director for Intelligence Integration, Office of the Director of National Intelligence reporting directly to James Clapper, director of National Intelligence.  That newly created position facilitated information sharing and collaboration through the integration of collection and analysis. Prior to this assignment he served as the deputy director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).

Special guest speaker at the Summit will be Amanda R. Simpson, executive director of the U.S. Army Office of Energy Initiatives. Previously she was the special assistant to the Army Acquisition Executive since July 2011.  In that role she was a principal advisor to the assistant secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology) on all matters relating to Army acquisition, procurement, research & development and logistics.

Two other special guest speakers highlight the agenda:

Ambassador Lincoln P. Bloomfield, Jr. is currently the chairman of the Stimson Center, a non-partisan think-tank. He was previously the U.S. special envoy for MANPADS Threat Reduction from 2008-09.

Mark Reichardt is president and chief executive officer of the Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc.(OGC), an industry consortium promoting technology standards for geographic information technology

WHO:

Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle and U.S. Space and Rocket Center CEO Dr. Deborah Barnhart will provide the welcome address to Summit attendees.

WHY:

In Northern Alabama and extending through the region of Oak Ridge and Knoxville, Tennessee a substantial footprint of assets exists in the defense and energy industry sectors. These assets are of national importance in sustaining our energy independence and homeland security. Throughout the event, executives from key stakeholder companies and government agencies will convene to discuss how to attract new jobs and investment to the region using our collective technology expertise that will foster growth of the Tennessee Valley.
