VertiGIS begins next phase of growth and appoints Andy Berry as CEO

November 16, 2022 By GISuser

LONDON–( BUSINESS WIRE )–VertiGIS, a global leader and provider of innovative geospatial information management solutions to utilities, telecoms, government and infrastructure organizations, enters the next phase of growth and expansion.

“It’s impressive to see how VertiGIS has come together and evolved over the past five years”

VertiGIS receives backing from global technology-focused investment firm Battery Ventures, which in 2017 recognized an opportunity to bring together a distributed ecosystem of leading geospatial information systems (GIS) and space technology firms under the brand. Since then, VertiGIS has acquired 10 companies in North America and Europe and shows no signs of slowing down. On the contrary, the company intends to grow both organically and through acquisitions over the next few years to extend the VertiGIS offering to targeted industries around the world.

At the forefront of this new phase of rapid growth is VertiGIS’ new CEO, Andy Berry, based in London. Berry has a long track record of growing global technology companies, having previously held leadership roles at ZephyrTel, Pitney Bowes and LogFire. In his previous position as Executive Vice President (International, Compass Business Unit) at Infor, he was responsible for $300 million in sales across seven independent business units with more than 100 products and 20,000 customers in EMEA and Asia.

“It’s amazing to see how VertiGIS has come together and evolved over the past five years,” said Berry. “This next phase of growth is all about innovation. Of course, our customers can count on us to continue to support them with our proven, market-proven solutions, but they can also look forward to us translating our decades of industry experience and research into cutting-edge technology, while we continue to invest in configurable, cloud-enabled software that solves practical problems.”

Morad Elhafed, General Partner at Battery and Board Member of VertiGIS, commented: “We are very pleased to welcome Andy Berry to advance VertiGIS’ mission, which is critical in light of recent geopolitical events affecting governments across Europe, a significant customer segment of VertiGIS, has never been more important than today. And beyond that, we are also very excited to support the company’s strategies for organic and inorganic growth in all segments and regions in the future.”

VertiGIS currently employs more than 500 people in nine countries and serves over 5,000 customers – from small businesses and communities to global corporations and cities – around the world. Its proven, configurable solutions address challenges commonly faced by utilities, telcos, governments, and infrastructure organizations, including use cases such as:

  • network management (planning, documentation, simulation, analysis);
  • civic engagement;
  • land management and urban planning;
  • waste management;
  • Facilities and asset management (critical infrastructure, large building operations, commercial spaces, manufacturing facilities);
  • Transport (roads, rails, airports, port facilities)

VertiGIS solutions are based on the flexible, purpose-built capabilities (e.g. web and mobile viewers, report generation and print designer, tight security features, intelligent workflows to digitize processes) of the VertiGIS Studio™ suite, which can also be licensed separately, to enable customers to extend, optimize or create their own room applications faster via configuration instead of costly new code.
