The 4 Main Rules Of Work At The Computer For Students Without Harm To Health

December 22, 2020 By Editor

As students today, working, studying, or bonding with friends using a computer has to be a huge part of our daily routine. Although these activities seem easy and effective using a computer, there are harmful effects we should be aware of. The health risks attached to the use of your PC are long-term and may seem insignificant at first. We’d discuss a few safety procedures and rules to guide you to use your computer risk-free.

Take Out Wristwatch Or Hand Jewelry

Using your laptop or monitor over a long period equals a lot of activities on your wrist area. One of the common diseases associated with active computer users is Osteochondrosis. It’s a disease on small joints often caused by high tension on the wrist. Sadly, not many students are aware of Osteochondrosis. However, students can pick out health law essays on lawaspect.com for better insights on the health risks involved. Constant use of wristwatches and hand jewelry while working on the monitor or computer increases the tension on your wrist. As expected, this point might seem invalid since you haven’t experienced any irregularities lately.

With the jewelry causing a restraint on the blood flow, the small joints in your wrist area are liable to suffer from Osteochondrosis. At first, this might lead to a few cramps that are mostly ignored. Ensure to take out your Wristwatch or hand jewelry before working.

Reduce The Screen Brightness

Even when it’s medically advisable to avoid dim light when using a computer, excessive brightness could result in eye damage to health. Working on a laptop with increased brightness is likely to cause eye fatigue. The continuous light rays from the device attack the delicate tissues in your eyes, which stresses them out. It means they have to help you see while shrinking themselves to prevent you from temporary blindness.

Also, to avoid ruining your vision, always put your monitor or laptop’s brightness to the optimal. There’s truly not a globally accepted percentage to keep your brightness settings at. However, it’s recommended to adjust the settings to fit your eyes muscles reaction after working long hours.

Interestingly, the eyes respond to stimulus extremely fast, which would help you determine if the screen is too bright or low. Eye disease prevention can only be achieved when you’re sensitive.

Ensure You Maintain Regular Body Movements

Taking a lesson in a class or working on school projects for long hours in a static position often results in ‘Blood Stasis.’ Even when keeping still sometimes increases your level of concentration and productivity, it also reduces blood circulation. Keeping the blood flowing always is one of the major rules for health for every human. While you stay glued to one position over a long period, your posture prevents blood flow through other parts of the body.

A student spending hours in a static position while working on research for her homework is likely to have blood stasis. When you apply too much pressure over one part of your body, it prevents the blood flow from getting to the other parts.

For example, lying down on one side of your body while typing for hours reduces the blood flow to the other part. Applying that much pressure on one side could also cause minor cell-damaging and impair function.

Clear Out Food & Drinks From Workspace

This is one of the safety precautions attached to the computer manual after purchase. Sadly, the majority of students do not know the reasons for this basic health precaution. When you have food particles or liquid spillage on your device, it causes harm to the computer and potentially harms you. Of course, the hardware and software components of a computer aren’t water-resistant. This means when in contact with water molecules, their efficiency drop reduces drastically.

On the other hand, when you have a liquid spillage on your computing device, it increases your chances of becoming electrocuted. Chances are you’d have the laptop placed to your body most times to achieve comfort during usage. When this happens after a water spillage, you’ll get minor electric shocks, making operating uncomfortable.

Conclusion

As college students, working on the computer makes the entire idea of tertiary education look easy and achievable. No one wants to be left with the options of getting their information from the library and typing with a typewriter anymore. However, keeping to these rules enables you to maintain a great health safety routine while enjoying comfort.
