Lagos, Nigeria – Proxy Logics, one of Africa’s leading geospatial technology innovators has released the second version of its marine oil spill monitoring UAV- and this one is called PROXY SEAGLE F1-10.
The first edition of the SEAGLE was designed as an internal solution for the company, and was successful in monitoring over 170 oil spills across West Africa, especially in Nigeria. “SEAGLE F1 was useful in the service of our many clients in the oil and gas sector, and it was a solution we designed for remote oil spill assessment and monitoring for the petroleum sector, but we have also been successful in deploying the solution in the maritime sector.” This solution is lighter and affordable and now available as a package.
The SEAGLE F1 sensor system is a masterpiece designed to detect of oil films on water and land surfaces in extensive unmanned mode. It is a remote LDI optical sensor fitted to a rugged high endurance UAV (drone). It captures the specific fluorescence of oil caused by its exposure to certain ultraviolet light emission. Due to that the sensor is selectively sensitive to various oil products while not reacting to most other materials that may appear in the observation area. When the oil is detected the system generates ALARM delivered to the control terminal station according to installation structure. Sensing, processing and alarming are done in real-time. The Seagle F1-10 is built on a special sensor and UAV designed by Proxy Logics.
The sensor like the F1’s sensor is assembled in a rugged weather-proof compartment that complies fully with IP68 standard and includes digital communication systems that provides adequate operations as a stand-alone or network unit. Inspired by the rugged LDI sensor, SEAGLE F1-10 is designed for continuous unattended operation in the risk areas for oil leak in the water or on the ground, including industrial plants, oil storage terminals, waterways, harbors, and other sites of environmental concern.
Some of the features include the contactless detection of oil spill in terrestrial and marine environment; the ability to completely detect just oil and not give false alarm; designed to be rugged and resilient in all weather; light and portable; the pollution threshold can be adjusted and accessed remotely. It can be operated in network mode or as a single unit.
