December 10, 2014 (Des Plaines, IL) – The 19th Annual GIS/CAMA Technologies Conference will take place March 2-5, 2015 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The annual conference is jointly presented by URISA and the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) to foster collaboration and integration of data, technology and functionality. Early registration discounts are available until January 5; discounts for exhibit booth purchases are available until December 31.
Preconference workshops will be presented on Monday, March 2:

The opening keynote, “Solving the Mysteries of Petra, Jordan: 25 years of Research in the Valley of the Crescent Moon“ will be delivered by Thomas Paradise, PhD, Geography and Geosciences Professor, University of Arkansas – Department of Geosciences, and the King Fahd Center for Middle East Studies. Dr. Paradise will discuss more than two decades of innovative research in Petra, Jordan. With over two decades of work in the mysterious Valley of the Crescent Moon, this once magnificent crossroads city is beginning answer age-old questions regarding urban planning and Sun worship, architectural decay, and catastrophic natural disasters, now 2,000 years later. Paradise will discuss the merging of science, geomatics, history, and policy used in this research.
Twenty-one breakout sessions on topics ranging from Specialty Property Valuation Considerations to Imagery from Satellites to Street Fronts will highlight technology solutions from across the globe. A dynamic panel discussion on the “Future of Assessing” will imagine what the future holds for assessors and the larger world of data sharing.
The closing session will feature a panel discussing “GIS Local Governance, Mutual Aid and GIS within Indian Nations Lands”. In the real world, jurisdiction or administration boundaries aren’t necessarily marked on the ground, and certainly aren’t necessarily respected by natural disasters, economic activity, or the various aspects of the new focus on “Community Resiliency”. Oklahoma is a special place from which all can learn with its many Indian Nations, and the recognition and respect for their land as Sovereign Nations. Disaster response certainly, plus daily mutual aid arrangements, and now NG911 are the subject of this special session.
