PCI Geomatics Attends GIS Day events in Ottawa

November 18, 2014 By GISuser

RICHMOND HILL, Ontario, Canada—November 18, 2014: PCI Geomatics, a world leading developer of remote sensing and photogrammetric software and systems, will be participating in Ottawa-area GIS Day events at Carleton University and the University of Ottawa. The GIS Day events are taking place on Wednesday, November 19 and feature technical presentations, map competitions, and an exhibition of local businesses working in GIS fields.

GIS Day was started as a way to provide an international forum for users of GIS technology to demonstrate real-world applications that are making a positive difference in our society. GIS Day is a grassroots effort to encourage people from all fields and levels of expertise to learn about geography and the uses of GIS in their everyday lives.

“Much of the research performed at top schools like Carleton and the University Ottawa is at the leading edge of the fields of GIS and remote sensing,” said Kevin Jones, Director of Marketing at PCI Geomatics. “It’s always exciting to take part in GIS Day events to see this work first hand, as well as having an opportunity to display some of our real-world applications to undergraduate students beginning their GIS studies.”

Representatives from PCI Geomatics will be available during the exhibition at Carleton University to provide software demonstrations in the company’s booth at MacOdrum Library’s Discovery Centre. As part of the event at the University of Ottawa, PCI will be delivering a presentation focusing on the business of remote sensing and GIS including real-world success stories in the industry.

PCI Geomatics is a longtime supporter of the academic sector, providing software and assistance to Universities around the world, helping students to learn the fundamentals of remote sensing and Photogrammetry. The company recognizes the importance of supporting students who are learning and conducting important research in the field of Geomatics, and has a comprehensive education program available for qualifying universities.
