Oxford, UK – A partnership between data capture specialist GeODC and digital mapping expert Lovell Johns has secured a contract with Wiltshire County Council (UK) to capture essential planning, highways and land charges records.
The contract, thought to exceed GBP 200,000, covers the capture of 70,000 textual records and 19,000 plans and will form the building block for a countywide project to meet e-Government and e-Planning targets, improve customer service and support internal IT improvements.
Approximately 70,000 documents comprising Planning Applications, Highway Development Control Consultation, Advanced Payment Code, Legal Agreement Files and Local Land Charges records, together with an estimated 19,000 associated plans, will be captured during the course of the 12 month data capture project. The project will deliver this information for insertion into a new geographical information system (GIS) based IT Planning System from CAPS Solutions. This will enable the Council to meet central government targets for electronic delivery of council services and information and improve public access to the planning system.
“To support the ongoing improvement of our ICT infrastructure, feed the growing demand for information from both internal and external customers and meet our statutory obligations, it was essential that this data capture project was undertaken to the highest possible standards,” said Gerry Chequer, Local Plans and Development Control Manager at Wiltshire County Council. “The partnership between GeODC and Lovell Johns gave us the right mix of expertise and experience coupled with knowledgeable, helpful and friendly personnel, all at the right the price.”
