National Survey & Engineering Provides Address Mapping and Survey Field Verification Services to Green Lake County, Wis. to Ensure Address Data Validity for 911 Dispatch
OSHKOSH, Wis. — National Survey & Engineering, a division of R.A. Smith & Associates, Inc. — civil engineering, planning, surveying, landscape architecture, GIS and 3D visualization consultants — Oshkosh, Wis., is providing Green Lake County with address mapping and survey field verification services, enabling the county to ensure the validity of address locations for county-wide 911 dispatch and other land information purposes.
Aerial photography and geographic information systems (GIS) technology are being used to locate where a driveway meets a public road. A survey crew from National Survey & Engineering then uses this information to field verify each point and record the address of the property. The county will use this information to dramatically improve first responder time by identifying a more accurate location of a 911 call. Within seconds a substantial amount of information is made available to dispatchers and responders, law enforcement and fire departments. This dramatically decreases unnecessary delays, increases the community’s safety and protects property.
