Cambridge, UK, 20th October 2005. Laser-Scan is delighted to announce that its Aeronautical Production System (APS) produced for No. 1 AIDU, RAF has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious Information Management (IM) 2005 Awards.
The APS is an exciting new development in chart production, taking existing digital approaches to new levels and setting a new standard within the defence sector. No. 1 AIDU can benefit from increased efficiency, excellent data quality, a single continuous database and intelligent charts. The project was developed over 18 months, and operational commissioning is now taking place on a national scale in Great Britain.
The APS has generated much interest within the defence sector; currently the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) is evaluating the APS with a view to incorporating it within their operations, which would move the solution to an international arena.
IM2005 is the premier European event for recognition of excellence and innovation in the management of business information. From over 500 European-wide entries, Laser-Scan and No. 1 AIDU have been shortlisted as finalists in the GIS category. The winners will be announced at the Awards Dinner, Thursday 1st December 2005 at the Grosvenor Park Hotel, London.
