Dell Systems Complement Available Technologies to Help Improve Data Access for Field Officers
ROUND ROCK, Texas–June 6, 2005–Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) has teamed with leading public safety technology providers to offer innovative mobile solutions that help police officers, emergency medical service and firefighters access and manage data when and where they need it.
Dell is combining its standards-based mobile systems with technology from the following vendors to help field officers more reliably access and share information:
— Cross Match Technologies, provider of forensic-quality fingerprint and palm print capture devices, uses the Dell Axim(TM) X50 handheld in its new rugged mobile scanner. The MV-100 integrates a forensic-grade optical fingerprint scanner, digital mug shot camera and a magnetic stripe reader for extracting demographics from a driver’s license. It supports wireless connectivity through Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and WWAN cellular connections, helping to provide law enforcement agencies immediate capture and transfer of information to the local Automated Fingerprint Identification Server (AFIS) and the National Crime Information Center.
— Integrian, Inc. now offers Dell customers its DigitalPatroller, an in-car, wireless digital video system that captures video data and transfers it to servers and storage systems back at the police station. Dell can also load Integrian’s Storage and Retrieval management software on Dell servers and storage systems to help law enforcement agencies organize and analyze digital video files more cost-effectively than tape systems.
— First Mobile Technologies integrates mobile computers, mounting equipment and peripherals into rugged environments, including the nationwide, on-site installation of Dell Latitude(TM) notebooks into patrol vehicles. This mobile public safety offering includes optional touch screens; anti-glare screens; custom notebook covers; and Dell CompleteCare(TM) Accidental Damage service.(1)
