I solve problems using location-based data and geospatial technology to discover, process, analyze, and understand the world in powerful new ways. For 15 years, I have worked as the GIS Analyst for Douglas County, WA, bringing a blend of data management, technical GIS, analytical GIS, and cartographic skills to every project. I work to achieve accurate results that fulfill my colleagues and customers’ needs in a timely manner, while juggling numerous projects, and with excellence as a standard.
I continually work on expanding my skills and keep an eye on the latest geospatial trends. My latest endeavors are developing my skills in Python and Esri’s Model Builder.
I have a deep passion for volunteering and giving back to my profession. I am a past newsletter editor for the former Puget Sound Chapter (now the Pacific Northwest Chapter) of the Association for Women Geoscientists (AWG), a past board member of the Central Washington GIS User Group (CWGIS), as well as, the past secretary, board member, and chair of multiple committees for the Washington State Chapter of URISA (WAURISA). Currently, I am the organizer for the Central Washington GIS User Group and a volunteer on numerous WAURISA committees.
The GIST graduate program promotes spatial thinking, analysis, modeling and visualization across USC. Through interdisciplinary research and collaboration, faculty, staff and students work to increase the scope and hasten the pace of spatial thinking as a core-learning objective.
Thanks to a faculty of leading GIS experts, plus regular and significant investment in information technology, USC GIST graduates are uniquely equipped to keep apace of an increasingly diverse and dynamic field. They are distinguishable from graduates of other programs in how they think about and use GIS principles and the technology they use to implement those principles, redefining spatial thinking for the 21st century.
