As our nation prepares to ring in the new year, the U.S. Census Bureau projects the U.S. and world population on New Year’s Day. The Census Bureau’s U.S. and World Population Clock simulates real-time growth of the United States and world populations at <www.census.gov/popclock>.
Also in December, the Census Bureau releases annual population estimates for each state and the District of Columbia as of the previous July 1st. The vintage 2017 population estimates cover the period from July 1, 2016, to July 1, 2017. We calculate the annual percent change for each state and round the percent to one decimal place.
