Registration opens for the 2013 Washington GIS Conference!
WAURISA is pleased to announce that Conference registration is open! Take advantage of the early-bird rate by Monday, April 1, 2013. Make plans today to attend the conference!

Hotel selected for the 2013 Washington GIS Conference
This year’s Conference hotel is the Embassy Suites – Seattle – North/Lynnwood. The room rate is $109 for a single or double, and that includes wireless internet access in your room and shuttle service to/from the Convention Center. To reserve your room, call 425-775-2500 and mention WAURISA. This offer expires Monday, April 15, 2013, or sooner if all rooms in the block have been reserved.

Call for Vendors
Do you offer a GIS product or service? Share your information with conference attendees! All vendor exhibitor details can be found on the WAURISA website.

Call for Entries to the DTA Student Presentation Competition
The DTA Committee is now accepting entries for the 7th annual Richard ‘Dick’ Thomas Memorial Student Presentation Competition and Award. Visit the submission page to enter. Entries are due Monday, April 1, 2013. More information on the Competition is on the Conference webpage. Feel free to contact Amanda Taub and Sarah Myers, the Co-Coordinators of the Competition if you have questions.

Tuesday Evening Social
After the vendor reception, make plans to join us from 6pm till 10pm at nearby Big E Ales brew pub for games, prizes, food, and friends at the 2013 Washington GIS Conference Social

Some Reminders:
Call for Conference Workshops – due February 8th!
WAURISA invites you to submit a proposal to conduct a workshop for the 2013 Washington GIS Conference. We are seeking instructors to give half-day educational presentations and workshops on a wide range of GIS topics. The deadline to submit an abstract is Friday, February 8, 2013! Workshop presenters will receive one $150 credit towards a two or three-day conference registration.

Call for Conference Presentations
WAURISA is accepting presentation proposals for the 2013 Washington GIS Conference. The conference theme for 2013 is Power of Place. The deadline to submit an online abstract is Monday, March 18, 2013. All lead presenters will receive a $60 discount from the 2-day or 3-day conference registration.

Two presentation formats are available:
· Individual presentations (30, 60, or 90 minutes)
· Panel discussions (30 to 90 minutes)

Prof. Michael Goodchild will Keynote the Conference
Michael F. Goodchild
will be the opening keynote at the 2013 Washington GIS Conference. He is Emeritus Professor of Geography at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he also holds the title of Research Professor. For more information on Prof. Goodchild, visit the Conference webpage.
