Versatile Geotab Plug-and-Play Fleet Solutions Join Sprint Portfolio

Compact, portable Geotab GO6 plugs under the dashboard, giving instant access to a wide range of productivity-boosting, cost-saving, safety-enhancing features

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.– Sprint (NYSE:S) and Geotab Inc. announced today that Geotab plug-and-play fleet management solutions are now part of Sprint’s connected transportation portfolio. Geotab is a leading provider of technology and software designed to increase fleet productivity, cost effectiveness and safety.

“We are pleased to add Geotab to our Sprint fleet solutions portfolio”

Now tested for compatibility on the Sprint network, the Geotab GO6 device is an easy-to-install, transportable device for cars and light to medium-duty trucks and vans. Geotab GO6 plugs into the vehicle’s OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) port and relays information back to a web-based interface for fleet managers. As a result, managers can track and monitor vehicle locations, identify driving behaviors, optimize driver dispatch and routing, and improve the overall health of their fleets with maintenance reminders and alerts.

The Geotab device can help reduce costs and keep drivers safe and secure while increasing efficiencies and productivity. Geotab solution features include:

  • real-time GPS vehicle tracking
  • trips and activity reporting
  • driver ID
  • messaging and dispatching tools
  • safety reports
  • driver performance rating and in-vehicle coaching
  • fuel consumption tracking
  • idling, speeding and mileage tracking
  • seatbelt reminders
  • instant accident notification
  • engine issue detection

Fleet operators can use the Geotab web-based software, MyGeotab, to generate reports that help coach better driving habits. They can also observe driving activity in real time and send audio alerts to change inefficient driving style immediately. Additionally, Geotab GO6 enables continuous monitoring of engine performance and better coordination of fleet maintenance, helping to keep more vehicles in service at any given time.

“Companies can transform the way they manage fleet resources and realize significant gains to the bottom line with real-time fleet management and other mobile resource management solutions,” said Neil Cawse, CEO of Geotab. “We are proud to join with Sprint in bringing powerful advantages to fleet managers, including the ability to lower fuel costs, prevent vehicle wear and tear, prioritize vehicle maintenance, and qualify for insurance discounts.”

Geotab is a member of Sprint’s extensive machine-to-machine (M2M) partner ecosystem, which enables a wide range of connected transportation solutions. Plug-and-play devices can be installed in seconds, with no installation cost to the customer, and support a wide range of productivity-enhancing tracking, monitoring, navigation and safety features, such as those provided by Geotab.

“We are pleased to add Geotab to our Sprint fleet solutions portfolio,” said Wayne Ward, vice president-Emerging Solutions Group, Sprint. “Plug-and-play fleet management solutions are a key part of that portfolio, giving our business customers with fleets a powerful yet easy-to-use tool for driving impactful savings and efficiencies. In addition, Geotab solutions help support Sprint’s commitment to safe and secure driving.”

Sprint’s open approach to M2M is built on flexible network architecture, combined with collaborative relationships among customers, vendors and Sprint’s dedicated team of experienced solutions engineers. Sprint brings all these elements together with a focus on understanding each fleet operator’s business, then acting as an integrator to bring all the pieces together with the most efficient end-to-end solutions package for the specific need.

Sprint’s secure network supports connected transportation solutions by enabling accurate and reliable connectivity for an expansive range of telematics applications. To ensure that the growing demand for telematics and other advanced solutions will be met, Sprint has embarked on Network Vision, a multiyear network initiative designed to enhance customers ‘experience with faster data speeds, improved voice quality and easier connectivity.
