GeoDigital Recognizes LiDAR As Art Via Innovative Competition

I’m loving this one and couldn’t agree more that LiDAR and other imagery products indeed make wonderful pieces of art! Recently, at the ILMF event in Denver, CO, GeoDigital recognized this idea through a contest that they hosted – LiDAR as Art. Here’s the concept… The contestants who receive the top 3 vote totals in this “Art with a Purpose” contest have a donation made in their company’s name to the charity of their choice. The voting takes place on line and at a designated trade show.

This ongoing event will run throughout 2012 and will be staged around key LiDAR-related industry events. Submissions are now being accepted for the 2012 American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing – ASPRS Annual Conference which takes place March 19 – 23 in Sacramento, CA.

First place in the inaugural ILMF 2012 LiDAR as Art contest goes to Sergio Aguayo from Merrick and Company for his image entitled, “Lighting up the Night”.

Aibot X6 uses Leica Nova MultiStation for accurate geospatial data without GNSS

(Norcross, GA /Kassel, Germany, 1 October, 2014) – At this year’s INTERGEO in Berlin, Leica Geosystems and its sister company, Aibotix, will present a solution for accurate positioning of the Aibot X6 without GNSS. The UAV can be tracked accurately with the Leica Nova MultiStation to define the exact position. Using the Aibot X6 together with the Nova MultiStation can inspect top surfaces of aircrafts in hangars, enabling users to rely on its proven functionality without the support of GNSS. The UAV, equipped with Leica Geosystems’ 360° prism, flies over the aircraft and takes high-resolution images of its surface. This solution helps, for example, to ascertainlightning strikes and effectively document […]
