Canadian agencies, organizations, and companies are invited to attend the Canadian Interoperability Day on Friday, April 20, 2007, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ottawa, Ontario.
The event is being hosted by ESRI Canada and GeoConnections—a national program led by Natural Resources Canada. GeoConnections collaborates with partners to expand and evolve the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI)—a resource that enables Canadians to share, access, use, and combine location-based (“geospatial”) information over the Internet (http://www.geoconnections.org).
At the event, federal, provincial and territorial governments, industry, academia, and geomatics associations from Canada and around the world will be showcasing their products and discussing the benefits of interoperable data sets and applications accessible via the CGDI.
“The reasons for attending the Canadian Interoperability Day are numerous,” says Lucie Séguin, A/Director of GeoConnections “Participants will learn about the vision of GeoConnections, the architecture, standards and services of the CGDI; they will see a showcase of CGDI tools and applications and they will be able to explore users’ contributions thus far to the CGDI.”
“This event will demonstrate to participants the benefits that have grown from interoperability standards development and from GeoConnections program” adds Gordon Plunkett, Director, Spatial Data Infrastructure, ESRI Canada.
The number of participants for the event is limited, and those interested in attending are encouraged to register early, and specify the language of their choice.
