SKILLS-ASSESSEMENT AND TRAINING SOLUTION TO ARCHTECTURAL, ENGINEERING FIRMS
Global Reach, Service Expertise Make K-TEK Ideal Knowledge Trax Provider; Online Assessment Tool Encompasses all CAD-related Autodesk® Software
Costa Mesa, Calif., Jan. 25, 2007 – Recognizing the need for design- and engineering-driven organizations to measure and manage their employees’ software skills to maximize efficiencies, K-TEK Solutions LLC, a leading global provider of computer-aided design (CAD) and geospatial services, has acquired exclusive distribution rights outside Southern California for L.A. CAD, Inc.’s Knowledge Trax software skills-assessment and training-development solution. The agreement means K-TEK will provide Knowledge Trax, launched last November at Autodesk University in Las Vegas, to a growing number of architectural and engineering firms in the U.S. and abroad.
Knowledge Trax is a complete solution that combines a unique, personalized online assessment technology for determining an organization’s CAD-related software skills – both at the individual and organizational level – with customized modular training that targets “knowledge gaps” identified in the assessment. The assessment tool encompasses the full suite of CAD-related Autodesk software: AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, Autodesk Revit, Architectural Desktop, Land Desktop, Autodesk Map, Autodesk Inventor and more. L.A. CAD has authored and assembled a modular training curriculum specifically for Knowledge Trax, and K-TEK will administer both the assessment and training.
“We are very excited to provide Knowledge Trax to our global customers, who have commonly identified the need for exactly this kind of solution,” said Cathy Wagenaar, president and chief operating officer of K-TEK Solutions. “With its ability to evaluate technology skills and deliver the right training solution – for a single individual or an entire 500-person enterprise – Knowledge Trax is a valuable tool to help organizations keep employees productive and billable on the projects at hand.
“We plan to market Knowledge Trax well beyond our current customer base and provide targeted training for the purpose of raising the baseline knowledge level within the entirety of an organization,” said Wagenaar.
About Knowledge Trax
Knowledge Trax is a personalized modular program with an online knowledge-management tool that allows organizations to assess their employees’ CAD-related software skills, plan and track required training, and report results back to the training participant and the organization.
Many design- and engineering-driven organizations spend considerable time and resources determining their employees’ CAD skills and training needs, and employees are often grouped together for training in skills that only some require, or require to differing degrees. Knowledge Trax eliminates these inefficiencies and redundancies by targeting individual employees’ training needs and allowing organizations to spend their training dollars more wisely. This offers the greatest return on investment and improved productivity for the entire organization. It also allows an organization to maximize its time to focus on its core business.
Individual Knowledge Trax training participants are posed a series of pre-skills- inventory questions in a user-friendly, graphical online interface. Their answers, which are confirmed by second level of questions called the “answer-confidence meter,” accurately determine their skill level in the “feature-set” areas within the technology they currently use – drawing and editing, for example. The results allow K-TEK Solutions to offer organizations a highly accurate assessment of their employees’ knowledge gaps and recommend modular training solutions that dramatically reduce overall training time and costs when compared to training everyone on everything, or not training anyone at all.
