New Delhi, 1st Dec 2005: GIS Development is pleased to announce that it has gone into a ‘Memorandum of Understanding’ with Dubai Municipality, United Arab Emirates (UAE) to organise Map Middle East 2005, the largest conference and tradeshow of its kind aimed to address the Middle East region.
Map Middle East 2005 will be held at Dubai on 23-25 April 2005 and shall be the 1st Annual International Conference and Exhibition in the field of geospatial technology, science and applications for the region.
After the successful execution of the widely acclaimed ongoing annual conferences of Map India and Map Asia for the Asia Pacific region, with this effort, GIS Development now moves forth into the region of Middle East in response to the mammoth demand and need in the region for focused discussions, deliberations and exchange of knowledge and technology. The conference would be a joint initiative of GIS Development (India), Dubai Municipality (UAE) and Centre for Spatial Database Management and Solutions CSDMS (India). The conference would focus geographic information technologies like GIS, GPS, Remote Sensing and Aerial Photography.
Map Middle East 2005 has a theme of ‘Geospatial Technology And Knowledge Economy’. It is said that the world is witnessing a transition from the stage of Global Economy to Knowledge Economy. In this scenario geospatial technologies have emerged as strategic tools for development. Middle East region is also fast emerging as a center for GIS-related projects and applications for development. Map Middle East would showcase the capability that geospatial technology provides to develop sustainable solutions, and how it helps the region better understand the processes leading to changes. With a mission of foster the use and spread of geospatial content, Map Middle East would bring all the stakeholders in the geospatial domain – researchers, students, academia, policy makers, government departments and the industry – onto one platform for interaction, sharing and discussion on needs, demands and solutions. This large-scale technical conference shall have 3 plenary sessions, 2 keynote sessions, and a large number of technical sessions covering technology as well as applications. A number of organisations in the region, from private and government, have joined hands to support the event. National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, Egypt, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, General Organisation of Remote Sensing (GORS), Syria, Iranian Remote Sensing Centre, Iran and National Center for Remote Sensing, National Council for Scientific Research, Lebanon are the supporting organizations Map Middle East. Key industry-players have also started joining hands.
Exhibition at Map Middle East 2005 will provide an opportunity for the GIS Industry to portray every existing or prospective user with new advancements, solutions and services.
